Product Description:
Urea is an organic compound composed of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen. CAS: 57-13-6, Molecular Formula: CH₄N₂O, Molecular Weight: 60.06 g/mol, Purity: ≥99%. It appears as white crystals or powder, with an ammonia-like odor. When heated above its melting point, it decomposes into biuret, ammonia and cyanuric acid. It is readily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is neutral. It is soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid, and almost insoluble in ether and chloroform. It is used for protein denaturation and acts as a mild solvent for insoluble or denatured proteins. Combined with 6M guanidine hydrochloride and DTT, it can refold proteins from denatured samples.
