To ensure that our validated systems and controls continue to function effectively, we perform quality verification on our Balanced Salt Solution by testing samples from each production batch. We measure the osmolality and pH of all batches to verify compliance with product specifications, and we also confirm the absence of bacterial and fungal contamination using the method referenced in the current edition of the U.S. Pharmacopoeia (USP) Sterility Test Monograph. The endotoxin levels are determined using a Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay.
