DMEM (Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium) was developed from EMEM medium. Compared to EMEM, DMEM contains twice the amount of amino acids, four times the amount of vitamins, and additional components: non-essential amino acids, trace iron ions, and sodium pyruvate. As a widely used basal medium, DMEM is suitable for culturing various types of mammalian cells.
DMEM is available in three formulations based on glucose concentration: High-glucose DMEM (4.5 g/L), Low-glucose DMEM (1.0 g/L), and glucose-free DMEM.

More appropriate for slow-metabolism, adherent-dependent cell lines
