ITS supplement contains Insulin, Transferrin, and Sodium Selenite in Hank's Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS). ITS is known to promote the optimal performance of serum-free media and reduce the need for serum supplementation in conventional cell culture media. It will enhance the growth of various adherent cells.

Insulin promotes the uptake, utilization, and storage of glucose and amino acids, as well as lipogenesis. Transferrin serves as an iron carrier for cells. Selenite is a co-factor for glutathione peroxidase and other proteins, and is used as an antioxidant in culture media.
